Cloudtail and Proteinxpress are not the official distributor for ON whey. So it is difficult to just trust them. As you could see in the below image, these three distributors are the only authorized distributor for ON whey.

Sometimes, you could find Primarc pecan at Amazon and Bright Commodities at Healthkart

But, it is quite difficult to purchase from them because of the limited stock availability as they mostly sell to the local distributors such as cloudtail and proteinxpress.

So what is the solution?

Good thing is that both Amazon and Paytm provide free return if the products are not genuine. So we just need to learn how to spot a fake supplement. If the product is not genuine we can return it and ask for the authentic product.

How to check authenticity of ON Whey?

Step 1 - Check if they have hologram seal on the black plastic neck. Gold series will have gold hologram and platinum series will have silver hologram.

Step 2 - Check if the bottom of the tub has mold mark in case of US made tubs and circular indentation without a line running across the bottom for UK made tub

Step 3- Check the expiration date written at the bottom with blue ink jet printing, On whey has expiry date of 2 years

Step 4 – Check if cardboard vacuum barrier is present under the cap of protein tubs

My advice is to buy from Cloudtail and Proteinxpress, but make sure to check these 4 things to verify the authenticity of the product. If it is not authentic you could easily return the product

Yes, you can. I was facing a similar dilemma yesterday (25/05/2017) when I had run out of my ON Gold standard whey protein & it would be another 10 days before I could get it from the US directly, my most typical way of sourcing it.

10 days is a long gap to go without supplements especially for me since I do an intensive workout in a gym 6 days a week with 1 hour swimming in the morning.

So to validate it I did the following:

1. Checked who was the seller on amazon, it was Cloudtail, which I assume is a part of amazon itself
2. Called up amazon customer care & checked with them whether they are sourcing the product themselves or buying from another intermediary. Thankfully they are buying it directly.

3. Still not convinced, I called up Glanbia nutrition’s office in Delhi (No. being available on their official site - International Distributors ). I spoke to an executive named Ashish who told me the following:

a) All supplies to this country are through authorized importers/distributors only

b) Clients like amazon approach the company & then they ask one of the importers to then supply to amazon

c) They maintain complete details of all products coming to India & in fact you can call them up & validate the authenticity over the IVR itself - No. is +91–11–49594959
