Been taking 400 mg/day for about 18 mo now. I was amazed at how quickly it kicked in. I felt like a new woman in about 1 week. One wonderful side benefit included a reduction in my tendency toward becoming anxious about little situations in life - no more heart pounding anxiety reactions or obsessing for hours over something that happened. And my ADD really calmed down and I've been able to focus much better. My only concern is that I've noticed my anxiety and depression have started to creep back in at times. I could up the dose if that would solve the problem, but articles on dosing usually recommend using up to 2 years. Does anyone know if you can develop a resistance to SAMe? Is 2 years the max you can be on the supplement?

I take one pill a day in the morning and Eskaloft 1 morning and 1 at night The combination works well Price varies a lot for Eskaloft so shop around

I took this because Zoloft made me feel like a zombie. With high hopes after reading so many great reviews, I turned to SAMe. I took it on an empty stomach with lots of water and felt great for the first few hours. and then the side effects hit me. HARD. I experienced severe stomach pains, had horrible gas bubbles in my stomach and kept having to sit on the toilet and couldn't eat due to stomach pain and could only lay on my side. I wouldn't even let my boyfriend touch me or come close to me. After two weeks of this, I went to see a doctor for the stomach pains and stopped taking SAMe. Horrible. Made my depression worse after all of that. And I was super irritated.

Within 1 1/2 weeks of taking 400 mg first thing in the morning, I have more energy and my mood has greatly improved. I am 59 years old and I was worried about messing up my stomach. It has not caused any stomach problems.
